We are delighted to introduce new services, including Respite, Convalescent Rehabilitation and Symptom Management, reflecting the increasing demand for these much-needed services, including the valued return of Respite Care. In addition, our Wellbeing services will be enhanced to provide a comprehensive programme of activities and therapies, supporting people across all areas of our care.

About the Role

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • To assist with; and to provide food production, presentation and services for patients, volunteers, visitors, staff and the general public.
  • To assist the chefs in the preparation and serving of meals to the general public, some cash handling may be required.
  • To work closely with The Chef Manager and other catering staff as a team, to provide the best offering with minimal supervision.
  • To take ‘Cook’ responsibility on when cover is required for absence and/or holidays. (When a suitable menu will be agreed in advance).
  • To have an awareness of allergens contained in food.
  • To assist the Chefs in ordering products, food and non-food, stock control and rotation. Keeping appropriate records of orders, deliveries and waste.
  • To act upon any advice distributed as an alert from the Food Standards Agency.
  • To maintain the cleanliness, to agreed high standards, in all catering areas including equipment.
  • To have an awareness of and adherence to COSHH rules and regulations.
  • To help maintain appropriate monitoring records for Health, Safety and Environmental Health purposes.
  • To assist with the smooth and effective day to day running of the catering department.
  • To assist in ensuring all catering equipment is kept in good working order and report any defects via a control system.
  • To assist in ensuring security in the Catering Department at all times.
  • To assist with the supervision and allocation of work for volunteers and other staff in the catering areas.
  • To visit patients in IPU, as required, offering them menu choices of the day. Encouraging them to share their food likes and dislikes, making the day’s offering appropriate to their dietary needs in conjunction with the nursing team.
  • To ensure quality standards are reached and maintained.
