We have been through a significant period of change over the past two years, strengthening our HR foundations, modernising our systems, and building leadership capability. We are now ready to embed these changes, continue evolving our culture, and ensure our people have the support, skills, and environment to deliver outstanding care.

To take us forward, we are creating a new in-house position of Director of HR.

About the Role

This is a demanding and rewarding leadership position for an experienced HR professional who is ready to operate at a high level. You will lead our busy HR function, oversee all aspects of people strategy and operations.

For the right candidate, there is also the opportunity for the role to formally include the additional responsibility of Deputy CEO or the development towards this.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Combine strategic vision with hands-on delivery in a complex environment.
  • Work with and influence senior colleagues, even when views differ.
  • Bring resilience, sound judgement, and the ability to make and stand by difficult decisions.
  • Follow and uphold fair processes, while staying focused on the bigger picture.
  • Navigate upcoming changes to employment law and guide the organisation through them.

This is not a role for the faint-hearted – but for the right person, it offers the chance to make a lasting difference to the lives of our staff, volunteers, patients, and families.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to lead a high-profile, purpose-driven function at the heart of the organisation.
  • A place on the Executive Leadership Team, influencing strategic direction and organisational culture.
  • Hybrid working arrangements, with a minimum of three days per week on-site.
  • Competitive salary and benefits, including an Employee Assistance Programme, subsidised meals at our onsite Bistro, and free parking.

About You

You will be:

  • Educated to degree level or with professional experience to CIPD Level 7 or equivalent.
  • Skilled at managing change, organisational development, and complex employee relations.
  • An effective communicator, able to inspire trust and build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Pragmatic, resilient, and confident in navigating challenging situations.
  • Experienced in, or willing to develop expertise in, working within a healthcare setting and understanding the requirements of operating in an externally regulated environment.

We’re looking for a proven leader with senior-level experience, ideally in healthcare, who understands the strategic challenges and opportunities facing the sector or has the capability to learn quickly and apply that knowledge to help shape the future of Saint Catherine’s.
