About the Role

Are you a dedicated and experienced palliative care nurse looking to take your career to the next level? Saint Catherine’s is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our compassionate and expert team in providing support in the Community. If you thrive on providing high-quality, patient-centred care and are eager to lead in a dynamic and supportive environment, we would love to hear from you!

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert clinical care, advice, and advocacy to patients and carers managing complex and unpredictable life-limiting illnesses. You will autonomously manage a caseload of patients, ensuring the delivery of evidence-based, high-quality care in collaboration with multi-professional teams across the hospice, community, and other healthcare settings.

A vital aspect of the role is delivering education and advice to patients, families, and healthcare professionals, empowering them to navigate the challenges of palliative care with confidence and understanding. You will also lead advanced care planning, including sensitive end-of-life discussions and ethical decision-making, always respecting the individual wishes of patients and their families.

In addition, you will promote evidence-based practice by engaging in research, audits, and quality improvement initiatives, helping to shape the future of palliative care within our organisation and beyond.

What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled professional with:

  • Advanced clinical knowledge and significant experience in specialist palliative care.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills, particularly in emotionally complex and ethical situations.
  • A commitment to professional development and advancing evidence-based practices.
  • A current NMC Registration as a Registered Nurse and a specialist palliative care qualification.
  • Experience in advanced care planning, end-of-life discussions, and non-medical prescribing.
