Join Us at Saint Catherine’s Hospice

As we approach our 40th Anniversary, Saint Catherine’s Hospice is entering an exciting new chapter of growth, innovation, and investment in our services. For four decades, we have provided compassionate care and support to people across our community, and we are now expanding our services to meet increasing demand.

Alongside our specialist Palliative and End of Life Care services, we are developing and enhancing Respite Care, Convalescent Rehabilitation, Symptom Management, and Wellbeing Services — creating more opportunities than ever to make a meaningful difference.

Retail plays a vital role in helping us fund this work, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Relief Manager to support the continued success of our charity shops across 13 locations.

About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. As Relief Manager, you will support the smooth operation of our retail network by providing management cover for holidays, rota days, and absence across our shops.

You will lead and inspire volunteer teams, drive sales performance, and ensure high standards of customer service, merchandising, and presentation are consistently delivered. Working across a variety of locations, you will quickly build strong relationships with volunteers, customers, and colleagues while bringing energy, flexibility, and fresh ideas to every shop you support.

You will play an important part in helping our shops thrive within their local communities while maximising income that directly supports the care provided by Saint Catherine’s Hospice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide management cover across 13 shop locations.
  • Lead, motivate, and support volunteer teams.
  • Deliver sales targets, KPIs, and Gift Aid objectives.
  • Maintain high standards of visual merchandising and shop presentation.
  • Ensure excellent customer service at all times.
  • Support stock management, pricing, and profitability.
  • Promote shops within the local community alongside Marketing and Fundraising teams.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and retail procedures.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about retail and motivated by making a difference.

You will:

  • Have previous retail supervisory or management experience.
  • Be highly organised and able to adapt quickly to different environments.
  • Have strong communication and people management skills.
  • Be confident working towards sales targets and KPIs.
  • Be proactive, positive, and solutions-focused.
  • Have the ability to inspire and motivate volunteers and colleagues.
  • Be flexible and willing to travel across all shop locations.
  • Have a keen interest in charity retail and community engagement.

Why Join Us?

At Saint Catherine’s Hospice, you will become part of a caring, ambitious, and forward-thinking organisation where your contribution truly matters.

In return, we offer:

  • The opportunity to make a real impact within your local community.
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Staff discount across our charity shops.
  • The chance to be part of an exciting period of growth and development.
